'Portlandia' Stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein Cover Salt-N-Pepa's 'Push It'

IFC
The second season of 'Portlandia' kicks off this Friday, Jan. 6 on IFC, but fans needing an instant fix of Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein are in luck. The show's stars are midway through a nationwide promotional tour, and in the video below, shot last week in San Francisco, the duo offers up a spot-on version of the Salt-N-Pepa classic 'Push It.'

The clip features Armisen, who played in punk groups before finding fame as a 'Saturday Night Live' cast member, on bass and Brownstein -- an indie-rock vet who's most recently earned plaudits for her role in the supergroup Wild Flag -- on guitar.

Joining them is Thao With the Get Down Stay Down singer Thao Nguyen, who hops on the mic and shows off her MC skills. Meanwhile, singer Mirah, Nguyen's partner in the duo Thao and Mirah, provides backup singing and rapping.
