George Michael: Christian Group Prayed for Me to Die During Pneumonia Scare

As Spinner previously reported, singer George Michael has had quite a hellish winter after battling pneumonia in an Austrian hospital. Now, the Times of India reports that a Christian group prayed for the former WHAM frontman's demise.

After being released from the hospital just before Christmas, the singer gave a news conference in front of his home looking emaciated and said he was thankful to be alive. "I'm very weak but I feel amazing. It was by far the worst month of my life, but I'm incredibly, incredibly fortunate to be here," Michael told reporters. But not everyone was happy for the singer, especially conservative group Christians for a Moral America.

"Did you know that while I was fighting for my life in Austria there were a bunch of those lovely American 'Christian' organizations, who call themselves Christians for a Moral America, who were actually taking the time to pray for me to die," Michael wrote in a series of tweets. According to the singer, the "c---sucking bastards" were wholly against the openly gay singer's survival and apparently accused Michael of having AIDS rather than pneumonia.
