Peter Wafzig, Getty ImagesThere are some things you just can't live without. For director/musician David Lynch, it's the fabulous fragrance of coffee. Our colleagues at Huffington Post Culture have started a new series, Obsessed, in which famous figures and unknown fanatics alike gawk about their favorite things. "I am pretty much obsessed with coffee," Lynch writes in the inaugural column. "I've been drinking coffee on a regular basis since I was in the ninth grade. In the ninth grade, I met my soon-to-be good friend, Toby, on the front yard lawn of my girlfriend's house. And during that first conversation with Toby, he happened to tell me that his father was a painter, a fine art painter. Hearing this news that an adult could be...

Lana Del Rey: Can Artifice Survive in the Age of Adele?

Dana Eldeson, NBC | WireImage2011 was another dismal year for the economy. With U.S. layoffs soaring, European protests raging and 'Occupy Wall Street' dominating North American news all fall, the recession was etched into our collective psyches. Yet somehow the music industry saw a boom in sales after a seven-year slump thanks, in large part, to Adele. The British songbird was a commercial and critical success, selling over 6 million copies of her Grammy-nominated sophomore effort '21' and occupying most critic year-end lists. '21' debuted atop Billboard's charts and spent 16 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1, tying the 'Titanic' soundtrack from way back in 1997. Adele embodied authenticity by refusing to fit into pop music's superficial...

Peter Frampton's Prized Guitar Found Over 30 Years After Plane Crash

Gregg RothPeter Frampton can make a guitar talk, but he couldn't make his most-prized axe phone home from the Caribbean, where it had been lost for over 30 years. Fortunately for the rock legend, some enterprising fans were able to track down the Gibson Les Paul Custom (pictured at left) that he used on 'Frampton Comes Alive' and two Humble Pie albums. In 1980, the 1954 guitar was among Frampton's equipment on a cargo plane that crashed while en route to Panama. All of the instruments were thought to be destroyed until it was located on the Dutch island of Curacao by two fans, one living there and one in Holland. With the assistance of the Curacao Tourist Board, by unknown mea...

We had our ups and downs through the years but that's how things go in families, even rock-and-roll families. I will always remain grateful for his contribution...

Thin Lizzy Tapes Featuring Up to 700 Unreleased Songs Discovered

Tom Hill, WireImage Before his death in 1986, Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott gave an unidentified caretaker 150 tapes of unreleased music. Now, the Irish Independent reports, some of the nearly 700 songs included in that stash will finally see the light of day, as Universal is prepping a new Thin Lizzy box set due out later this year. "This is an absolutely stunning find," project manager Steve Hammonds told the newspaper. Following on the heels of another box set, 'Live at the BBC,' which was released last year, the collection will feature outtakes and alternate versions of Lizzy hits, as well as "material which was recorded but never released at the time," Hammonds said. Madonna Leak: Investigating Inner Circle; JFK Jr Asked her to Dress as Jackie O

Stephen Lovekin, Getty ImagesAfter a man was arrested late last month in Spain for leaking a demo of her single 'Gimme All Your Luvin,' Madonna is now mounting an investigation into how the man received the song -- and reportedly believes the culprit comes from her inner circle. According to an article yesterday in UK newspaper The Sun, sources believe that a "source of these leaks comes from within Madonna's camp." The report also states that single tracks "have been exchanging hands for well over $1,000" while hundreds of hours of footage including video and photographs featuring the pop icon have been obtained illegally in exchanges for tens of thousands of dollars. "It is all part of the same deal made by a few unscrupulous...

Creedence Clearwater Revival Reunion: No Chance, Drummer and Bassist Say

Central Press/Getty ImagesCreedence Clearwater Revival have a long and fabled history of betrayal and deceit. Since the dissolution of the band in the early 1970s, lawsuits have flown from both sides of the river. One of the more recent incidents came in 1997, when bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford decided to tour under the name Creedence Clearwater Revisited. Frontman John Fogerty sued the duo and refused to be seen with them at the band's induction at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But that was almost 15 years ago -- maybe now is the time for a CCR reunion? Not a chance, according to the rhythm secti...

Alongside fellow axeman Mike Pinera, he replaced guitarist Erik Brann and played on one album, 'Metamorphosi...

Feist Whacks a Pinata While Her Band Jams 'November Rain' -- Video

Steve Jennings/WireImageWhen big-name indie bands decide to indulge in '80s-era hair ballads, people witnessing usually lose their s---. And that's exactly what happened during a recent Feist gig in Mexico City. After finishing her final ballad of the evening with a few signature falsetto cat howls, Feist was greeted by a stage hand carrying a large bat. Then, the indie rockers trudged right into the chorus of Guns N' Roses' 'November Rain,' complete with a Slash impersonator -- at least, we've been told he's an impersonator. (We've got an eye on you, Slash.) Rather than partake in any Axl Rose-like vocal exercises, Feist let her backup singers do the work. Instead, the Canadian beauty went up stage to poke and prod a giant pinata...

But not everyone was happy for the singer, especially conservative group Christians for a Moral America. "Did you know that while I was fighting for...

Konecki is the head of Drop4Drop, an English charity committed to solving the world's water crisis. He's obviously a forward-looking fellow, and as the Sun reports, he's funny to boot. Adele may be resting her voice after undergoing throat surgery, but that didn't stop her from giggling as she strolled the beaches with her new be...

According to the Miami New Times -- and reported by Pollstar -- the artist posted a 12-minute YouTube on Dec. 30 entitled "Ultra Rage About The Ultra Music Festival." The clip has since been removed as Deadmau5 terminated the YouTube account but revolves around the cost of tickets and other issues. "Ultra to me is the definition of insanity: Doing the same f---ing thing every year, expecting different results every time," he said in the clip, following up on his Dec. 24 tweet. "It's fun and it's cool, and if...

Guided by Voices Hit 'Letterman,' Bassist Greg Demos Falls on His Butt

Cory Schwartz, Getty ImagesOne thing you can't call a Guided by Voices performance is dull. The influential lo-fi rockers may have aged a bit, but their shows still feature the same high kicks, chain smoking and tequila swilling that we've come to know and love. While the studios of 'The Late Show With David Letterman' wouldn't accommodate the latter two of those three antics, Guided by Voices still turned in quite a memorable appearance on the program, for two reasons. First off, their rendition of 'The Unsinkable Fats Domino,' the lead single off their new 'Let's Go Eat the Factory' album, kicks ass. Second, bassist Greg Demos somehow fell on h...

The pair married in June and announced the pregnancy at the same ti...

Politician Proposes $25 Fine for Singers Who Mess With National Anthem

KMazur, WireImageFrom Christina Aguilera to Roseanne, people have been screwing up 'The Star-Spangled Banner' for decades. That surely irks some Americans, but others really get really furious when performers alter words (like Steven Tyler's "Home of the Indianapolis 500!") or add in those extraneous melodic flourishes. Besides creating YouTube fodder, all these reworkings have really ticked off one patriot in particular: Indiana state senator Vaneta Becker. How angry is she, you ask? Enough that she's proposing a bill to fine performers who mess with the national anth...

The Weeknd Announce Toronto Auditions for Apparent Upcoming Tour

Danielle Da Silva for The Come Up Show, FlickrWith the secrecy regarding releases and rare live performances adding to their heavily cultivated mystique, Toronto group the Weeknd appears ready to take its avant-R&B on the road. As noted by Exclaim!, the outfit fronted by singer Abel Tesfaye took to its Facebook page Jan. 4 seeking musicians who are able to go out on tour and, presumably, survive the inevitable decadence that will ensue. "The Weeknd is looking for a professional guitarist and bass player in or around the Toronto area to travel and perform live in concert," the post reads. Interested musicians are asked to provide their name, age and what instrument they play as well as pictures and performance footage. "Serious...

Zooey Deschanel's Income: What She Could Buy in a Month (Math!)

Mark Davis, Getty ImagesThanks to TMZ, we now know that soon-to-be-divorcee Zooey Deschanel earns $95,000 a month, which resembles our salary in that it's an amount of dollars. Even though we don't care about the 'New Girl' star's finances, we started thinking about what she could possibly spend that on per month, if taxes and other expenditures weren't an issue. We even asked our 'Jersey Shore'-loving colleagues at HuffPost TV, the Benedict Cumberbatch fanboys at Moviefone and the Michele Bachmann historians at HuffPost Comedy. Using a wristwatch calculator without checking our math, here's what we came up with: - 12.9% of this huge tuna. - 9,500 Buddy the Elf sippy cups. - Like, so much Taco Bell. - 9,547 1-year subscriptions...

Foxy Shazam's 'State of the Mind Series (Part 1)' Is a Trip -- Video Premiere

EMIWith the music industry in financial decline, the mythos of the "rock star" has begun to fade away. Rather than achieve fame after years spent in the gutter, many rock 'n' rollers are now college graduates, conscientious persons, business-minded entrepreneurs and, frankly, responsible members of society. But with the rebirth of EMI's imprint label, I.R.S. records, comes a band whose high-energy live shows and throwback sound preserves the tight-jean-wearing, cigarette-smoking, sex-craving soul of rock music: Foxy Shazam. During the group's last tour through the U.K., singer Eric Nally and co. filmed a series of videos that showcase the band's mysterious antics. From playing drums on the back of a bus to living life in slow-motion,...

Sarah McLachlan: Being Bullied as Teen Inspired Her Music School for At-Risk Youth

Getty ImagesSarah McLachlan, the 40 million-selling, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, seems like she's led a charmed life. Certainly her adulthood -- aside from an unfortunate divorce that she spoke to us about last year -- has been fortuitous since she launched her acclaimed career back in 1988. But McLachlan's teenage years, like many of ours, were anything but charmed as the aspiring singer says she was mercilessly bullied in high-school. "When I say music saved me, I don't say that lightly," McLachlan tells Spinner. "I didn't fit in, I didn't get on with a lot of people and I was sort of ostracized. Music gave me a sense that I was worthwhile and that I had something of value to offer the world even though everybody was...

Rock the Vote: 20 Musicians Turned Politicians

Getty, Asylum, GettyAlthough actors-turned-politicians like Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger get most of the attention, they're not the only entertainers to throw their hats into the political arena. Plenty of musicians have tried to bridge the gap between public performance and public service. Some have even succeeded. The latest musician to attempt this is Youssou N'Dour. The Grammy-winning Senegalese singer -- best known to pop music fans as Neneh Cherry's duet partner on '7 Seconds' -- recently declared his plans to run for president in his country's upcoming election due to overwhelming demand from his supporters. "For a long time, men and women have demonstrated their optimism, dreaming of a new Senegal. They have,...

Police discovered the British musician's body in his home in north London after neighbors became worried, the Associated Press reports. Weston was brought on as a replacement for guitarist Danny Kirwan in 1972, but after playing with the band for two years, trouble began to brew. While on an American tour, Mick Fleetwood discovered that Weston had been having an ongoing affair with Fleetwood's wife, Jenny Boyd, and the guitarist was fi...

Man Stabbed at Gregg Allman Concert

Erika Goldring/Getty ImagesGetting stabbed isn't something you'd expect to happen to you at a Gregg Allman concert. But unfortunately for rock fan Ronald Sixt Jr., his night seeing the rock legend ended with a knife wound to the face. During the Wednesday, Jan. 4, show at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, Sixt had apparently bumped into one Carl Darren Brothers, a drunken concertgoer who became aggressive after the initial contact. The men began arguing while Allman continued to play on stage, then fought for a period of time before Brothers unleashed a knife from his back pocket and stabbed Sixt. CBS reports the venue's security broke up the fight and subsequently called police. Brothers was booked at the Metro Nashville Jail and...
